ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – P. Mauriat is proud to unveil a marquis series of saxophones developed with master jazz musician, Greg Osby. In early 2011 Greg approached P. Mauriat with several ideas about how the ideal alto saxophone should sound and look. After two years of intense research and design the Greg Osby Signature model has arrived!
“The Greg Osby Signature Series is a leap forward by P. Mauriat,” says Craig Denny, Brand Director for P. Mauriat and Zonda. “The collaboration between Greg and the development team was outstanding. The result is an alto that has depth, complexity and shimmer. In short, it’s the finest P. Mauriat alto ever produced.”
Greg Osby was involved in each point of design, from the shape of certain keys and their placement, to the type of pads and resonators used. Greg and the P. Mauriat engineers made sure each facet of the horn was re-imagined. No key was left untouched, each detail was perfected, resulting in an alto built for players who expect the most out of their instrument.
“I talked to the engineers at P. Mauriat about what my ultimate ideal was in terms of a saxophone.” says Greg Osby. “This horn responds the way I want it to, it speaks the way I want it to. It has all the qualities of that ideal instrument, but better.”
