ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – Dixon Drums is thrilled and honored to welcome John Blackwell to the brand’s family of endorsees. Blackwell’s credits include industry legends such as Prince, D’Angelo and Patti Labelle, and he is known throughout the world as one of R&B’s greatest drummers.

“John Blackwell is an exciting addition to our artist roster,” Said Jim Uding, Dixon Brand Manager. “He’s contributed so much to the music of great musicians, inspiring drummers as a person and a player along the way.” We’re honored to have him join the Dixon family.”

Taught by his father at the age of 3, John Blackwell attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, leaving the school in 1995 to play with the acclaimed funk band, Cameo. After moving to Los Angeles he played with Patti Labelle and appeared on her Grammy Award Winning album Live! One Night Only. Blackwell also spent over a decade with Prince, joining his band The New Power Generation in 2000. One of the hardest working drummers in the industry, John continues to perform with leaders in music, including Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy and many others.

“Becoming a Dixon artist is a real honor for me,” Blackwell commented. “I love the sound and look of their kits, and they bring an element of renewal to what I do. That kind of inspiration is important and I found it in Dixon.”

John Blackwell is also the leader of the John Blackwell Project. His album 4ever Jia is available on at his website www.johnblackwellproject.com. For more information contact your Dixon representative at [email protected] or call 800-727-4512.
